It was the first really tragic thing I really have memory of.<br /><br />The person who was the runner up in the teacher selection is someone who is now a consultant for my district (lives in the area, etc). He went through the training along with the teacher who perished. I always wonder how that has affected him but have never asked. My dad told us at the din...I remember that day too. My dad told us at the dinner table. He knew people who were related to people on the shuttle. I'll never forget that day either. I was watching the launch in the electronics section w/ a number of others standing around.....and then it happened and we all gasped and stood gaping, unbelieving.
